Hi readers! This week I’m combining the Weekly Review: July 15 – 21 and Saturday’s Sweet Savage Love #4: July 21st Edition because I took yesterday off from blogging. Enjoy!
Weekly Review: Spending
Well, this week’s spending was far more conservative than last week’s spendaholic fesitivities! I spent $70 ($67.00) on entertainment – down from my usual $100. Under blog costs, $50.00 went to a winner for a giveaway I was running on my blog; $50.00 also went towards gas for my car and the fees and charges were for pulling money out of another bank’s ABM. Finally, the $72.00 under the financial category is my life insurance payment. Largely, this week’s spending was business as usual.
Weekly Review: Life Under Construction
Extra Income: $200 in Blog-related business income (advertising).
I’m excited to share that I made my first advertising sale on Canadian Cents & Sensibility this week! I want to give a shout out to Tonya from Budget and the Beach for being kind enough to help a sister out after receiving my semi-hysterical email about advertising. She went over and above to help me out, thanks lady!

Planning a Fabulous Wedding on a Frugal Budget
Sweet Savage Link Love:
Jordann from Making Sense of Cents wrote a post near and dear to my heart on setting a wedding budget. Read more at How to Set a Wedding Budget Part 1. I posted a similar one this week on Planning a Fabulous Wedding on a Frugal Budget (maybe Jordann and I mind melded). 😉
Tonya from Budget and the Beach shares a neat infographic about Money: Cold Hard Facts. It shares some interesting truths about the green stuff we use every day in life.
My friend Matt from Mom and Dad Money writes a smart rebuttal to the idea some people have that we have to beat the market when it comes to investing. Read more at Why Do You Have to Beat the Market?
Mr. CBB from Canadian Budget Binder outdoes himself once again with this awesome recipe: Cherry Ricotta Cheese Turnovers with Marshmallow Cream. Check it out, it looks delicious!
Pauline at Reach Financial Independence is a newer blog read for me and I have to say that I’m picking up what she’s putting down. Read this article recommended by Matt at Mom and Dad Money to learn more about Where will your savings rate take you?
Cheezy Romance Selection of the Week: Her Secret, His Baby
I haven’t read this little gem yet but I’m pretty convinced that this plan isn’t going to work well outside of a Harlequin book. ‘Surprise, you’re a dad!’ is probably not going to inspire Christmas-in-July type feelings. Maybe I’m wrong?
Life’s been full of surprises lately for rancher Garrett Frost—and not in a good way. His mother has just dropped a bombshell about his past, so Garrett takes some time away to come to terms with family secrets. And who should he run into but Arden Cade, the beautiful photographer who shared a single night of passion with Garrett six months ago. He is even more shocked when he discovers she’s pregnant—and he’s the daddy.
To make matters worse, Arden hadn’t even planned on telling Garrett about the baby. Despite her lies, Garrett is determined to be a good father. He’s not the type to cut and run, and he can’t deny that he’s falling for Arden all over again. But he’ll have to find a way to forgive her betrayal…and make peace with that skeleton in the family closet.
Great job on the spending AND on the income, Lindsey! You’re doing terrific. 🙂
Hey Laurie! Thanks for the vote of confidence! I know last week’s spending was awful so I’m looking to make up what I lost over the next few weeks. I needed a plan and now I have more defenses against the siren song of summer spending. Sweet sweet summer…
whoo hooo! Nice job on the extra income!!! You’re so welcome! I know I had a lot of people help me out when I first started monetizing my blog, and I still have so many things I haven’t figured out myself yet. Baby steps!
Thanks again, your advice and suggestions were so helpful! I’ll figure it out as I go along- baby steps, for sure!
Congrats on the $200 buck-a-roos! Super cool. And girl, you crack me up with your cheesy romance books.
Hi Taynia! Long time no see, friend. Good to see ya! Thanks for the congratulations, it came out of left field a bit but I was happy to get it. 🙂 I do enjoy cheezy romances. Maybe I’ll be able to get Harlequin to sponsor my romance addiction someday…
Congrats on the blog income! You’re way ahead of me. And thanks for the link. A nice way to start the week!
Hey Matt! I don’t know that I’m ahead of you, your articles are retweeted like crazy and you get a ton of comments! You are a superstar!
Thank you for the mention Lindsey! Ads can really get confusing. well done on your first!
