Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I sure did. Let’s get started with the weekly review:
Life Under Construction:
The Calgary Zoo has a Penguin Plunge that I love to visit. In fact, I bought a zoo pass just so I can go and see them whenever I want. For $80.00 a year, I have a pick-me-up in the shape of ridiculous little wingless birds whenever I need it. Really, it’s the little things that can change your day. Do you have your own version of the Penguin Plunge when you’re feeling down?
This weekend, my husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary with a weekend in Banff, Alberta. It was only an hour away but it was the first holiday we had taken in two years – not including family visits. We were never able to afford one because our spending priorities always lay elsewhere; like spending on the wedding, buying our house, or paying down debt. Most of these costs are behind us now but we still need to make paying off our debt a goal. This will take another four years.
The big problem with trying to put everything on hold until some later goal is achieved is that….I’m putting everything on hold. I can’t live my life with balance if I’m waiting. I need to enjoy my time as well do the work. Taking the mini-vacation was a great first step for me – and us. More on this to come.
Spending Review:
I spent $75.00 out of $100 for entertainment spending this week. The weekend trip to Banff was paid for separately and not included in this tally. Most of that was on food and dining out.
I would like to create another budget line to make room for day trips and mini-vacations. While we might not have money for an overseas adventure or a tropical get-away, there are lots of ways to enjoy ourselves without breaking the bank. More on this to come as well.
That’s it for now – have a good week!
