Welcome back to Sweet Savage Love, it’s been awhile so I’ll formally reintroduce my desire to simultaneously inflict my love for terrible romance books on you and highlight this week’s best posts from around the interweb. Enjoy.
Sweet Savage (Link) Love:
Laurie from The Frugal Farmer shares her admirable plans to go back to basics in her The Frugal Farmer Family’s 2014 Goals. Read more about her goals to preserve more, consume less, and just generally reduce her family’s environmental footprint. I love her homesteading aspirations and I can’t wait to see what she’s able to accomplish this year.
Paula offers us a wake-up call on who is steering the boat in our lives on her blog Afford Anything. If you find yourself saying “She’s so lucky,” or “If only I had been born rich”, then you need to read this post. She points out that having a “fixed” mindset will only limit you in her post Why you can’t get ahead…ever. Leave 9 to 5 slavery behind and read her blog.
I found Alexa at Single Mom’s Income through a guest post she did at Mom and Dad Money. As someone who has been single mom (only recently re-married), I am inspired by her ability to live life on her terms. She challenges her readers to dream big and shares her thoughtful observations on topics ranging from entertaining your preschooler to the impact of Obamacare on single mothers. Her most recent post discusses the twelve investment books she plans on reading this year.
Greg at Control Your Cash congratulates himself, once again, on being a financial phenom in his most recent post The CYC’s New Year’s Resolution Review. While I don’t share our friend’s disdain for the human condition, he raises a good point regarding New Year’s Resolutions: Why do we pick one arbitrary day of the year to obsess about the quality of our lives only to abandon it within a few weeks or months? This question inspired a post of my own which I will share next week. (Editor’s note: This link love serves the dual purpose of simultaneously acknowledging Greg’s role in my creative process and provoking his incontrovertible disgust regarding the same. I will derive no small amount of glee from that latter. I am petty that way.)
Don’t forget about my awesome Awkward Stock Photo Caption Contest.
