Today we’re going to talk about the wonders of money saving with a swap party. A swap party, for those people who aren’t familiar, is a lovely little soiree where friends gather and clothes get exchanged. Basically, you decide that it’s time to dig out that nice top that’s been hanging neglected in your closet (because it hangs funny on you) or that pair of pants that you only wore once and ask some of your nearest and dearest to do the same thing.
Everyone comes together with their closet’s treasures (gently worn/fashionable clothes) and have a party. Drink some wine, have a fondue, and look through each other’s selections and you will find at least a few things that you like. I recently help a swap party and I came away with four different tops that I can wear to work (business casual). Money saving at it’s best!
This works on a few different levels – you get to spend time with friends, you get to clear out some of those lurkers in your closet, and you can acquire some new-to-you spring and summer duds. All the way around, this is a win-win situation. Happy swapping!
And readers, do you have a money saving tradition that you do every year? If so, tell us about it!
