Money Tip Giveaway!

money tip

Congratulations to Maggie C on winning the Money Tip Giveaway Contest. Thanks to everyone who submitted their tips, I’ll be going through everything to find my Money Tip Muse.

Come by and visit anytime – we have new posts going up every week and a new giveaway starting July 6.

So I’ve decided that Hollywood needs me so I’m about to break into the movies! Okay, that last part is a lie but I’m going to break into video. Probably made with my Iphone and some free movie editing software if I’m feeling fancy.

GOBankingRates is hosting #MoneyMinute video contest and I want to send my own slice of money-saavy into the fray. And that’s where you come in, fair reader. While I might have a few good ideas about money-saving tips, you guys would have a million of them.

So give your best – and worst – money tips and  you will be entered into a draw for $50 Paypal Cash (in Canadian funds, suckers, cause that’s where I live and you Americans need a little more Maple leaf in your lives).

So think video when you think money tip. Here are the three kinds of tips that you can submit:

  1. Saving Money and Frugal Living
  2. Credit and Financing
  3. Retirement and Investing

SUBMIT YOUR FAVOURITE MONEY TIP IN THE COMMENTS SECTION BELOW.

Go forth and save money!

***A note about the prize for the GOBankingRates #MoneyMinute contest. There will be much bigger, much more sophisticated bloggers who have podcasts and books and Youtube channels entering this contest. I am not aiming for $1000, I’m aiming for fun and my own 15 minutes of financial fame. 😉

I like to keep an Excel worksheet of my monthly expenses; I keep track of where most of my money goes and try to find ways to lower the $ spent. I like to also use coupons and take advantage of sales.

My favorite money tip is about impulse buying. You know that thing that you see that you think you really want so badly? Leave it there.  If you still want it in 3 weeks, go back. Most things you wait 3 weeks on you completely forget about. Turns out you didn't really love them that much!

Consider Downsizing alot for retirement.  We all have So much stuff.  Get rid of most and you will have more!

Spend less than you make and you'll always have some money in your savings. Couponing, buying food on sales and frequenting auctions, thrift shops and Kijiji helps us out a lot.

Good luck with you 15 minutes of fame.

My favourite money tip is to save for big purchases instead of using your credit cards. It saves you on interest. If you don't have the money now, wait until you do!!

Don't buy huge amounts. Really, buy only what you need and make sure there is no waste of food, resources or money! To have 60 granola bars on hand for lunches, no matter how low the unit price, is not a savings when your kids get sick of them after a week and refuse to eat them.

My favorite money tip is when on sale, stock up on items.  Don't buy full price if you don't have to!

My favorite money tip is to put all your change in a can or jar for the entire year and use it at Christmas.  You'd be surprised how fast it adds up especially in Canada where we have $1 & $2 coins.
